Serve first, and the comeback follows.

Most people wait to feel strong before they try to help someone else.

They tell themselves: when I am back on my feet, then I will give back. When life settles down, then I will show up for others.

I understand that feeling. But I have learned it backwards. You do not wait for strength to serve. Serving is how strength comes back.

Service is not a big production. It is not a stage, a title, or a perfect plan. It is a small, honest act, done on purpose: a phone call to someone who is struggling, a ride, a meal, a word of encouragement to the person who thinks nobody notices them.

When you serve, something shifts. Your focus moves off your own worries and onto someone else's next step. Your problems do not disappear, but they stop being the whole story. You remember that you still have something to give — and that changes how you carry yourself.

That is why service belongs at the center of a comeback. Not at the end of it, as a reward for getting your life together. Right in the middle of it, as the work itself.

You do not need to have it all figured out to be useful. In fact, the person in the middle of their own comeback often sees someone else's struggle more clearly. You know what it feels like to start over. That understanding is a gift. Use it.

Start small, and start today. Help one person take one step. Listen without rushing to fix everything. Show up when you said you would. Keep your word in a small thing, and trust grows — in them, and in you.

Here is the quiet truth: we rise by lifting. When you lift someone else, even a little, you get a little steadier yourself. When you hold someone else's hope for a day, your own hope gets stronger too.

So do not wait for the perfect version of your life to begin serving. Serve with the life you have, right now. One act. One person. One day at a time. That is how a comeback stops being something you wait for — and becomes something you live. 🦁

Lead by holding the door open.

Everybody wants to be the leader in the front of the room.

The one with the title. The one with the answers. The one everyone looks at.

But here is what years of real work taught me: the best leaders are not standing in the front.

They are standing at the door. Holding it open for the person behind them.

Leadership is not a spotlight. It is a doorway.

Think about it. The person who changed your life probably did not give you a lecture. They gave you a chance. They saw something in you before you could see it in yourself, and they held the door while you walked through.

That is the whole job. See people. Believe in them a little earlier than they believe in themselves. Make the room bigger instead of guarding the door.

You do not need a title to do this. You do not need permission, a position, or a platform. You need attention — the kind that notices the quiet person in the corner, the one who is one hard day away from quitting, the one who just needs somebody to say, "I see you. Come on in."

Here is the part nobody tells you: holding the door open does not make you smaller. It makes you stronger. Every time you help someone stand up, you remember how to stand a little straighter yourself.

A comeback is never a solo act. Somebody held a door for you once — maybe a teacher, a friend, a stranger who showed up at exactly the right moment. Somebody gave you room. Now it is your turn to give it.

So today, find your door.

It might be a conversation. A kind word to someone starting over. A hand extended to the person who is struggling to believe they belong.

You do not have to save the world. Just hold the door open for one person today. That is leadership. That is service. That is how comebacks spread — one open door at a time. 🦁
